What is a boiler?

A boiler is like a furnace, but instead of using gas or electricity to heat air, it heats water. The water that a boiler heats can be used to heat the home with steam, or to provide a hot water supply to the household.

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a type of mechanical innovation used for the heating and cooling of residential and commercial spaces. A heat pump transfers air from one room to another using a fan, a condenser unit, and coils which house a refrigerant. During the warm summer months, the heat pump takes hot air from inside the home and moves it outside. During the cold winter months, the heat pump takes hot air from outside the home and moves it inside. A heat pump is also used in refrigeration systems to keep food cold, just on a smaller scale.

How often should I change my filter?

It depends on a few factors such as how much dust you are noticing in your home, and if you’ve had any recent renovations in your home which may have caused a buildup of dust and debris in your heating and ventilation filter. To get an accurate diagnosis, contact Action Care Furnace Heating and schedule a diagnostic walkthrough of your home. This short visit will allow your heating and ventilation specialist to determine if your filters need changing or cleaning, and if any other parts of your system need attention or repair.

How long does the average furnace last?

With the proper installation, maintenance, and care, a home furnace can last approximately up to 20 years. A furnace can be made to last longer with regular inspections and extra care.

Factors to consider in choosing the right heating and ventilation system:

  • Your budget
  • Your climate
  • How many rooms you need heated
  • If you have allergies or sensitivities to dust
